When
the SingletonHand™ is enhanced with a robotic elbow
and shoulder assembly, it is capable of performing the following:
• Replicates the motion of a human hand and is capable
of performing
many tasks that can be done by hand.
• Helps promote independent living for the physically
challenged and
others who have strength and mobility
limitations that affect their hands
and fingers.
• Lends itself to a wide range of robotic and autonomous-mobility
applications
including materials handling, toxic-waste clean-up
and industrial process operations.
• Learning tool for young robotic enthusiasts.
• Can be used for assembly work.
• Crafts, hobbies and other tasks that require repetitive
motion and precise detail work.
• Simplifies everyday household jobs.
• Able to be used as a toy/novelty item.
ROBOTIC ARM AND HAND
The SingletonHand™ features detailed, jointed
fingers and thumb. This unique, efficient design provides fine motor
control capabilities which mimic precise human hand and finger movements.
A prototype has been developed that utilizes a compact design with
a single stepper motor and rod through clutch/brake assembly. Through
the use of a specially designed sensor glove, the SingletonHand™
is able to closely repeat and play back most hand motions that are
performed by the human hand.
